019. free time to do other nerd stuff
I finished the semester, obsessed over Notion formulas and started learning to code
Hey!!
Happy to be typing on the keyboard on here again!
In this post, I’ll share three things I’ve been up to this last week.
Finishing uni projects !!!
Last Monday, I gave away the last project of the semester!! I feel so free now, especially cause these last weeks of the semester have been loaded with work.
I finished the project on signage and way finding, remember? Welp, it’s done, here are some slides from a presentation I did about the project:
Had to make mock-ups and did not have enough time to make very good ones 😅😂
Another project I had resulted in the design of an app for jumping rope. Kinda like a social media app mixed with a Duolingo-style course. You can see the presentation I made for it here (has to be seen on desktop, sorry!). I made it on Readymag and had to unpublish my old website to publish it because I don’t have a plan on there any more, ahh! Anyway, that means I will have to unpublish this presentation after it’s evaluated, so if you see this in the future, it might be already unpublished.
Energy tracker on Notion
I watched this video on energy management and a Notion energy tracker and I thought it was such a good idea!! I wanted to implement it but integrated with my already existing journal on Notion, so yesterday I made my own, slightly simpler version.
(The video has a free template linked if you’re interested!)
The idea is to input your energy level throughout the day, so that once you’ve done it for a while, you can see the average of energy you have depending on the time of day, and day of the week.
As you can see, I started tracking yesterday, so it’s not very accurate just yet.
The inputs so far:
To build this, I had to use some Notion formulas, at which I’m still very much a beginner and have to google everything. However, the joy you get when it works is almost addictive, now I understand why some people like to code.
Anyway, if you’re interested, I could make a walkthrough video with a free template. I might make additions to the system, so maybe it’d make it after that. Lmk! <3
Code !
Yep, all those Notion formulas got me wanting to start a coding course, also yesterday. Yes, also yesterday.
It was a Rajas day.
(one day I’ll talk about this, it’s so interesting)
I have a Programming for Art and Design course coming next semester and thought I might check out what I’m going to have to learn in advance (NERD!) Turns out, we’ll learn the basics of p5.js, so I searched what the heck that is on YouTube and this course came out.
After watching 5 videos, I made (or wrote?) this drawing below, so fun!!!
(I have no idea how I made the mouth)
(I finished it at like 02:00 hahaha)
Would you use the Notion energy tracker?
Do you use Notion? What for?
Any idea how I made the mouth in the drawing? Can you code? What language?
This one was rather short, I want to write another one soon, possibly this week or at the beginning of the next!
Thanks for being here! <3<3<3
I love your uni project!!!
I’m using Notion too (weeell, learning how to use it) I really like it, I’m just experimenting with different ways to organize my financial data (Let me know if you want to try this).
