Heyy!!
I feel like I’m saying this all the time, but I do not feel like writing, or rather I don’t know what to write about. I might have to establish some kind of method to collect thoughts throughout the week because by the time I need to write, my mind becomes empty somehow.
Signage design
As I’m not creating things as personal projects and for fun, I thought I might share what I am creating for my uni subjects. As you may know, I’m taking pretty boring subjects this semester, and only one of them is creative. And I am enjoying it so far, although it’s been a lot of work. But I feel I can put in some creativity, and putting in the extra effort is actually making me enjoy it more.
So the subject is surrounding a signage or wayfinding project. Basically, at the beginning of the semester, I had to choose a space with signs that could use a redesign. Ambitious as I am with this stuff, I couldn’t not invent my own. So I made up a festival. A local festival of crafts, so that it could have even more stuff I’m interested in 😄
The (fake) event is in Herrngarten, which is a park in the city I live in.
Here’s how the project’s going so far.
Skipping rope + pistol squats
I’m lately getting very much back to skipping rope, doing it at least once a week.
I post footwork combinations I achieve on TikTok. I spent a lot of time trying to get this one below. It’s so fast, it’s almost impossible. This video is from a few weeks ago, and it isn’t perfect, so I kept trying and failed time after time. That’s why I just cut the end of this older video (where I failed) and posted it hahaha
This other video is from just a couple of weeks ago, and it isn’t nearly as much practised, as you can see 😅. This is a song I skip to every time I jump rope and it turns out it’s the one I most played this year on Spotify haha. Anyway, the other day I was feeling it, so I wanted to make a quick TikTok and it came out pretty good. I accidentally started recording the beginning and decided to leave it lol.
It’s really a very cool sport. It’s weird because it doesn’t have much to it, but there are skills to unlock for every level, so there’s always something you want to achieve, which sparks motivation. I started skipping rope in 2021 because it was a way to do cardio, since I don’t like running, but it turns out it’s something I really enjoy (and it also improves heart health better than running, just sayin’).
Anyway, there’s me last Monday learning a new trick:
I should have filmed it horizontally, hopefully you’re on the phone 😅
I shared this note because it’s also been a fitness goal of mine to do pistol squats. I’m getting into callisthenics and thought it might be a good first goal to achieve by my birthday on Dec 24th.
Apart from leg workouts every week, I’ve been trying to do them almost everyday and the other day I kinda did it!!! But I’ve tried again more times since and I can’t always get back up. By the 24th, I want to be able to do a clean rep on both legs.
Wish me luck!!! 😅
Quick reminder that my calendar is for sale. If you enjoy the blog and like the calendar, buying it is a great way to show your support! No pressure whatsoever though, you being here is more than enough!!!
Would you go to the HerrnCraft festival? 🤭🤭🤭
Did you jump rope in elementary school?
Do you have any short-term little goals right now?
The designs are so cute 😍 and how you managed to turn jump roping into something so layered
